Damir Doma

Paris based fashion designer, Damir Doma was born in Croatia but was brought up in the Bavarian part of Germany in Traunstein. His mother’s clothing atelier had a great influence on Doma’s life and that’s what made him pursue a career in fashion design. Doma received his formal education in fashion design at L’ecole Superieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode in Berlin and Munich. He completed his graduation in 2004 and shifted to Antwerp, Belgium’s fashion capital where he started working with Dick Dirk Schönberger, Raf Simons and Ann Demeulemeester in order to gain experience.

Damir started designing menswear for under his label after partnering with Stephen Wembachar of the Paper Rain, a lifestyle focused venture capital and management firm in 2006. His 2008 menswear collection for spring-summer debuted on the runway at the Paris Fashion Week in June 2007. Damir’s inspiration primarily comes from fashion connoisseurs like Giorgio Armani and Issey Miyake.  Achtung, a German fashion magazine has recognized Damir as the most interesting young Paris-based fashion designer while Germany’s newspaper Bild has named him the most important fashion designer on the third notch after Karl Lagerfeld and Jil Sander. Dubbed ‘the modern Armani’ by LVMH’s global head of strategy, Damir Doma is second to none in the fashion industry.

Damir’s first store opened in the fashion and art district of Paris, Marais in 2009 and by June of 2012, the shop turned into a three floor boutique on Rue Fauborg Saint-Honore. Doma’s first diffusion clothing line came out in 2010 called SILENT which consisted of his signature outfits with an affordable price tag. The Paris Fashion Week on September 29th, 2010 witnessed Doma’s women’s wear collection which gained instant success. His fall-winter show of 2011 and 2013’s spring-summer show both got great reviews by the media and critics. Many recognized Damir as the fashion industry’s rising star of the future. In June 2013, Damir was the guest designer of Pitti W. No.12 held at Florence. Damir is also on the panel of official members at Federation Francaise de la Couture. He has definitely proved his mettle to the fashion industry. His clothing lines are currently sold at luxury departmental stores around the globe like Atelier NY, Dover Street Market and Lift at Tokyo,

Damir’s collaborated with New York’s Six Scents Perfume and launched his first limited edition perfume in 2009. He also presented his menswear and women’s wear collections in Zurich, being the finalist for 2010 Swiss Textile Award. Vogue Paris also invited Damir to Petit Salon des Jeunes Createurs at Hotel de Crillon, Paris in 2011.  Interior designer Vincent Darre installed his designs at his exhibition. The same designs were also featured at a Fashion Magazine’s cocktail party.

The year 2012 witnessed the opening of Doma’s flagship store on 54 Rue Fauborg Saint-Honore in Paris adjacent to Comme des Garcons. In partnership with Berlin’s Mykita, He designed and launched his second eyewear collection which was a high priced collection of gold, titanium and graphite plated frames. The contemporary menswear designer also came up with series of six unisex perfumes. Damir Doma is an all time favorite designer of Robert Pattinson, Lenny Kravitz and Bruce Springsteen.
