Camuto established the Nine West in 1978 and became its creative director. However the brand was bought by The Jones Group in 1999. In 2001 Vince launched the Camuto Group, that provides services like design, production, marketing and sourcing to retail store owners. Vince Camuto is well-known inside the American territory and in the fashion and footwear industry, otherwise he is unknown to people beyond these categories. However, many people are familiar with the brands that he created, such as Nine West.

Vince’s label has become an ultimate lifestyle and fashion brand that produces and sells not only shoes but eyewear, fragrances, jewelry, handbags, apparel and various accessories. After seeing a space for a unique blend of price, trend and quality in the marketplace, Vince felt that the area should be addressed to using his expertise. He uses a crest that he found in his father’s hometown in Italy and applies the brand’s medallion on hand bags in an attempt to give class and identity to the merchandise. Although, Vince specializes in the art of shoe making, he explored new areas of fashion products in order to give full satisfaction to his female customers. His concept about design involves style, innovation and excellence. The market that his brand targets include women aged from 25 to 45, although Vince stresses that the woman who wears his creations is ageless, sexy, contemporary, up-to-date and sophisticated.

When dealing with retailers, wholesalers and other brands, Vince makes sure that he proceeds with the communication process in person so that people and organizations know that there is a man behind the label. He likes exploring new places for business and via Stores Specialists Inc. he distributes his products in Philippines.

Turning away from his professional life that has gained him success, the personal bit of his life has also remained straight-forward with no divorces and re-marriages as yet. In 1989 he married Lousie who has been the first runner up of Miss Universe and Miss Sweden. Apart from this, he is involved in philanthropic activities. He supports charity organizations, such as The Domestic Abuse Awareness Foundation, Leukemia Society of America, St. Jude’s Hospital, and Ronald  McDonald House. Additionally, he is among the board members of Wish And A Smile which supports charities concerning children.
