Erin Fetherston

Erin Fetherston is an American fashion designer, born in San Francisco, California. She attended the University of California, Berkeley before studying at Parson’s School of Design, Paris. It was in 2005 that she debuted her eponymous label and introduced it during the Haute Couture Show in Paris. Since its birth, the collection has established a romantic, whimsical and feminine image and sensibility. Such quality standards and a sustained representation earned the label devoted celebrity clients and media attention. In 2007, the designer settled New York and since then she has displayed her prêt-a-porter collections during the city’s fashion week.

In addition to fashion, Fetherston is recognized for photography, short films and multimedia projects. Her photographic work is in collaboration with Ellen Von Unwerth, that features Karen Elson, Zooey Deschanel and Kristen Dunst.

The talented woman has won honors including, Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award (2007), Vogue Fashion Fund and Council of Fashion Designers of America award (2007), and nominated as a member of CFDA (2009).

In 2010, she became a guest designer as well as a creative consultant for Juicy Couture, a lifestyle brand. A year later she introduced ERIN, a contemporary collection that is available at United Arrows, Neiman Marcus, Harvey Nicholas Hong Kong, Barneys Japan, Bloomingdale’s Saks Fifth Avenue, and specialty stores around the world.

Moving on, Erin looks for inspiration from other designer for different reasons. She looks up to Chanel for vision, Christian LaCroix for craftsmanship and creativity, and Diane Von Fustenberg and Tory Burch for the personification of their brands. Other than this, the designer is roused by nature and the world around her. A major chunk of her childhood memories involved nature. It is an inveterate reference in her work. Moreover, she is inspired by the time she spent in Paris – the glamour and style. Erin Fetherston is no doubt attracted to beauty, but she likes making apparels that are comfortable. Apart from this, her design sense is stimulated by architecture, people, books, old movies and places.

In 2011, Fetherston started dating Gabe Saporta after he left his previous girlfriend. The couple got engaged in February, 2013 and later married one another in St. Nicholas Abbey, Barbados. Saporta is a Uruguayan musician. The two  spent their honeymoon near the beach and forest – a time to relax. She had packed her suitcase with a lot of white outfits and dresses since she loves to wear this color.

During an interview with Haute Living, the designer described her adoration for her two dogs. One is a Chinese Crested and the other is a Bijon Maltese. The names of her beloved pets are Tulipan and Koala – unusual and unique. Erin Fetherston is certainly not among those who dress their dogs because the designer feels her pets feel embarrassed dressing up. Probably clothes look best on humans only. She did buy them coats for winter from a horse company but they didn’t approve of it. However, Fetherston feels that her dogs like fashion and like being inside her design studio.

Fetherston always wanted to become a designer. She attained a degree in visual arts and believes that art is one medium that is filled with interactivity. The designer envision her brand to incorporate an array of products in beauty, home decoration, accessories and other random things.
