Kira Plastinina has taken over Russia by storm with over 180 stores operating across the country. Kira Plastinina, daughter of a Russian millionaire, Sergei Plastinin is Russia’s and perhaps the world’s youngest fashion designer . The young fashion designer backed up by her father’s financial support designed her first collection in 2007 and launched it in Moscow under her own name, Kira Plastinina. The young fashionista’s collection was well received by the masses and turned out to be an immediate success; the brand’s sales skyrocketed just few days after her collection was launched.
March 14th, 2007 marked the debut of Plastinina’s first collection on the runway under the brand name Kira Plastinina Style Studio at a local mall. There has been no looking back for Kira ever since. In the spring of 2007, Kira made her way onto a local TV show where she created designs and styled young contestants to appear at gala concerts for a span of four months. In October of the same year, her spring – summer collection of 2008 was showcased at the Moscow Fashion Week where Paris Hilton was the guest of honor. The very next month, the Kira Plastinina Style Studio opened in Kiev, Ukraine. Soon after that she flew over to Milan in order to become part of the 100 leading fashion designers of the world in a 100 Christmas Tree Designers Project. Receiving an award from Glamour Magazine as the Designer of the Year was a perfect photo finish to her very successful first year.
The new year, 2008 started off with a boom with her international debut at Alta Roma Alta Moda Week where she was presented a medal for the ‘most talented and young designer’ at the event and there was another award in tow; the award for ‘Successful Debut’ at the Milan Fashion Week given to her by the Italian President, Mario Boselli. The end of the year was denoted by the opening of LUBLU Kira Plastinina in Moscow and Nicole Richie graced the event with her presence. In January, 2009, the young fashion designer went international by opening her first shop at Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles. July 2009, Kira got a chance to attend a special course at Marangoni Institute which is Europe’s oldest fashion design institute. The place from where the biggest names in today’s fashion world graduated from like Dominico Dolce from Dolce & Gabbana, Franco Moschino from Moschino and Alessandra Facchinetti of Gucci and Valentino. Around the same time, her style studio also mushroomed in Manila, Philippines.
In September 2009, her spring- summer 2010 collection, ‘Dreams of Africa’ at the Milan Fashion Week left her critics dumbfounded. The following month, her collection was presented at the Volvo Moscow Fashion Week where she once again, amazed the critics with her work. Stars like Mick Jagger’s daughter, Georgia May Jagger and supermodel Natalia Vodianova were seen attending her fashion shows. European and Russian celebrities have admired Kira’s work from time to time. In time, the LUBLU Kira Plastinina corner was finally up and running at Harrods, London.
In 2010, a lot was happened for Plastinina. China opened its doors for Kira when two Kira Plastinina Style Studios opened up in Beijing around May and June, 2010. Another Kira Plastinina Style Studio opened up in Manila, Philippines and her fall 2010/11 fashion show took place at the Volvo Moscow Fashion Week. Kira may be only twenty one years old but she has definitely surprised the critics and proved to the fashion industry that she is here to stay.
